Looking for information on the COTTRELL family, in particular Gilbert COTTRELL. He was married to Nancy Emeline PETERS. Also looking for info on the WAGGONER family. Gilbert's mother was Maria WAGGONER. Gilbert served in the 60th VA Infantry during the war between the states. His two uncles, Samuel & John WAGGONER served in the same country.

: I am just beginning my families genealogy. My great grandfather was Lonnie W. ADKINS & my g-grandmother was Ethel RUNNION; both of Pigeon, Roane County, WV. Lonnie's mother was Anna Suzanne ODELL, she married Isam ADKINS. Ethel's mother was called HUD, she married Jim RUNNION. I am also searching for information on the parents/grandparents of Richard & quot; Bud & quot; Bennett CURTIS. He was first married to Zillie CARPER, then to Flossie ADKINS. (my grandmother). This is a side branch of the family which needs some information for college soon. I am very willing to share what info I have.

Any information on Joel SHORT b. 1789 N.C. m. Nancy RIGGS in Stokes county N.C. on 8 AUG 1811. Joel lived in Pittsylvania Co. VA, then moved to Botetourt Co. VA. He finally settled in Spencer, WVa along with his son Hiram SHORT & family. I have a declaration for Pension for the War of 1812 for him that was submitted in 1871 from Spencer showing he was still alive then but I can not find out when he died & cannot determine who Joel's father was. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am researching the STARCHER family lines with Humphrey STARCHER b.2 JUL 1831 in Lewis or Kanawha Co. He m. Levina MURPHY 14 MAR 1867 in Roane Co. Humphrey's parents were Abraham & Elizabeth (NUTTER) STARCHER. I need to locate Abraham's census records to determine the rest of his children & possibly who Abraham's parents were. I have been unable to locate Abraham or Humphrey in the 1860 or 1870.

The families involved have resided at various times in Gilmer, Braxton,Calhoun, Jackson, and Roane Counties (doesn't that help?), but I don't know where Joshua and Melissa were married, lived or who their children were. I am searching for info on my great-great grandfather. He was Allen K. JONES b 5-1828 Russell Cty? VA d 1908 in WV m Delilia (MCCLUNG). I have info of the family up to him but it ends there. My aunt believes Allen's father was Abraham JONES but she isn't sure. The family came from Russell or Botecourt Cty's VA.
