Harold PATTON, born 22 Mar 1938/39 at Kanawha County, WV .... His
grandfather was William Rexford PATTON, born ca 1907 at Kanawha Co,
married to Arvie Priscilla SMITH, died ca 1981 at Kanawha .... Any help
would be appreciated
Looking for info on William THOMAS who married Mary Ann JOHNSON ....
He was born in Monroe County, Ohio on 28 Jul 1854 and his death
certificate says he died 25 Jul 1938 .... He had a son John Wesley
THOMAS who died 04 Oct 1956, the death certificate informant is a Mary
JOHNSON and lists his mother as Mary JOHNSON but she died in 1928 ....
kind of confusing .... John had 3 sisters, Cora Lee CHURCH, Barbara
SWINEY and Rebecca SWINEY .... Mainly what I am looking for is to see if
there are any relatives still living in the area? Would appreciate any
help in locating anyone that knows about this family
Is anyone researching the HOPKINS family? Lawrence Braddock HOPKINS of
Rhode Island and Bath County, VA was the first of that name in the
Jackson/Roane area ca 1833/4 .... His wife was Mary JORDAN of Bath
County. Some evidence that he rebuilt Jackson's Mills after it burned in
1831, then built Statt's Mill, among others .... Of his children, Robert
HOPKINS and Martha Ann STALNAKER (dau of John and Susannah CHENOWETH
STALNAKER) raised a large family .... Most of HOPKINS name have now
moved to other locations but their roots run deep in Roane County
history .... I have some information but few resources, and willing to
share

Rush Creek in Kanawha County and is said to have built a saw mill there
.... I am also told Rush Creek is in Roane County, is this true? He went

He was born in Floyd County, VA in 1848 to Phillip and Mary ALDERMAN
.... Martin married Tabitha MCCROSKEY on 17 Oct 1866 in Roane County and
sired 9 or 10 children while living there .... He may have lived near
Walton .... I have located no records on him at the courthouse in
Spencer although there are several records for his older brother Warren
My name is Denver Miller and I live in Pasadena, CA. My father's
family came from Roane County and I have been tracing them through
census records and the wonderful assistance of Elsie Cook [Look-up
Volunteer] .... I am trying to find the death dates for my great-great
grandparents, John and Mary A MILLER, both born in 1829 in Germany ....
They came to Roane in the 1870's, and were on the 1880 census. In the
1900 census they were 71 years old and lived with son Charles .... In
1910 Mary is a widow and still with son Charles .... They lived on
Island Run Road - does this road still exist? Mary's other son's, Joseph
and John C (my great grandfather) lived close by .... Elsie Cook
explained that she doesn't have complete county death records so I am
asking if someone else may know when John and Mary A MILLER died? Thanks
for any help that you can provide me.

PHILLIPS on 18 Jun 1894 .... Lewis is my great grandfather. At the time
of their marriage it states that Amy was 19 and a widow .... In the
Roane County Births it states that Lewis and Amy had a male child, C M
PHILLIPS, on 05 Feb 1895 in Spencer .... The birth record lists Malenda
CUTRIGHT as the informant, is she a relative? What happened to this
child? I can't find anything on him .... What happened to Amy? ....
Lewis married again in 1897. Any help will be appreciated

I am trying to locate family descended from the Hiram CUMMINGS family
.... They had a bound boy by the name of Elijah RUNNION in the 1870's
listed as part of their household .... I think this Elijah may have been
my great-grandpa Elijah .... He played a fiddle in his later years and

History says the mill was built by William FOLEY. I would also
