The HARDMAN's are of German extraction, from PA by way of the Shanandoah, VA & Monongahela country, thence to upper Reedy. Thomas HARDMAN Sr. mentioned in writings indicating he was among the settlers coming here from Monongahela Valley in the early 40's. Thomas HARDMAN & Rebecca (GOFF) HARDMAN reared 7 children: William, John, George, Sase S., James E., Drusilla & Tina, all born before the Civil War.

William HARDMAN, son of Thomas & Rebecca, m. Diana BURDETT, grand-daughter of Martin ARGABRITE & made a large farm called " the Bill HARDMAN place". Their children: Thomas Jr; John M. m. Mollie FOUTY; Sase L. m. Caroline ROBEY; Rebecca Jane b. 1851 m. Thaddeus KELLEY; Rachel Ellen m. John W. KELLEY, brother of Thaddeus.

John HARDMAN, s/o Thomas & Rebecca, m. Sarah ROMINE d/o Samuel ROMINE, the names of their children: Orlando m. Margaret FIELDS, d/o John FIELDS; John Middleton m. Electra SCOTT, d/o Isaac SCOTT; Lee, George, Fred, Robert. Josephine, wife of Lemuel CRISLIP; Mary Carminta m. S. Columbus THRASH whose children were A'bertus, Fred & Beulah THRASH.

Ninth child of John & Sarah HARDMAN is Ella m. Marshall A.C. BOARD s/o A. Sandy BOARD; Lola & Ada HARDMAN.

Sase, s/o Thomas & Rebecca HARDMAN, m. Tina BOARD d/o William BOARD. James E., 5th s/o Thomas & Rebecca, settled on Colt Run.

Drusilla, 6th child of Thomas & Rebecca HARDMAN, m. Capt. G. INGRAHAM.
