I am trying to find information about the descendants of Rachel Smith, born in Pennsylvania in 1856 (though the censuses sometimes have later dates :o)). She married a man by the last name of Tate or Tait and had three children: Clara, b. about 1877; Blanche, born in January of 1881; and, Edward, born about 1885. She later remarried (maybe widowed? no info on this) a man named J. Sumpter (on the census). However, my grandfather thought his name was Bill or Floyd. With him Rachel had three more children: Stella, b. January 1886; Romie, b. May 1888; and, Joe, b. May 1890.
After the 1900 census, the entire family just seems to disappear! I can't find out what happened. I did see an John E. Tait in Akron, Ohio later with the correct birth year, but that is the closest thing I've seen to ANY kind of information about what happened to this family. I can't find death records, marriage records, birth records or census records of ANY kind. I would GREATLY appreciate ANY help on this family. Rachel was my grandfather's aunt.
