I am looking for information (especially documentation) on the Davidson or Davisson Ross line. My great-grandfather was Dr. Lewis Phillip Ross who married Leona Clara Wolfe in 1878 and left West Virginia after 1894. They supposedly died in Oklahoma but I need to find documentation of both their births and deaths. I would also like to find information on how he became a Dr.

Dear J Carpenter,
Thank you so much for responding. You provided a valuable date I haven't seen anywhere else. Can you tell me your source on the information? Thank you,

Wendy,
According to "Hardesty's West Virginia Counties", Vol. 5, pg. 286 family of Rev. Davidson W. Ross, his son, Lewis P. Ross is listed as b. 27 June 1857. Also, the 1860 Roane County, VA Census lists Phillip Ross age 3, so a date of birth of 1857 seems correct. I would be interested in learning where Lewis & Clara moved to in OK.

Dear Susan,
Thank you for taking the time to look up the information and reply to my query. I am sure the 1857 date is correct also. According to the obituary of Leon C. Ross, a child of L.P. Ross and Leona C. Wolfe, the family moved first to Decatur, Burt, Nebraska in 1895. I found them there on the 1900 census. The obit then says they moved to Sedgewick, Arkansas, and then to Bloomfield, Dewey Oklahoma in 1906. I found a widowed Leona and her family in Bloomfield in the 1910 census. Someone sent me some information on a death date of 1908 for L.P. in Oklahoma. I am trying to verify it. Thanks again for your help.
